How can I get my second hole ear piercing to close up?

they're uneven and I really want to fix one. they've been pierced since November so I hope it will close up at all. my first holes are gauged, and I've heard that if you gauge up a size then immediately take them out, the irritation will help the holes heal or shrink. I'm thinkingthat if I use a 14 taper then immediately take it out, maybe it'll close up? can anyone help me out?
