Do you recommend foundation or any face makeup?

i have oily skin and its generally clear. but sometimes there's red marks and its uneven in color. i used to use foundation, powder, and concelear and i'd break out all the time (but that was when i didnt care about my skin and take care of it) so i dont know if my breakouts were caused by foundaton or not. either way, i want perfect skin and a lot of girls at my school seem to have perfect skin, but i just guess its their face makeup. should i start wearing it? do you recommend it? what brands do you recommend if you use it.
